Further snow has fallen and now the weather has cleared. The lucky ones are out enjoying one of the best starts to a winter in recent memory. But will it last? PlanetSKI reports on the new snow.

More snow came down in the Alps with up to 30cm falling in recent days since the storm started on Saturday.
It snowed heavily over the weekend in the northern and western Alps and then the storm moved east to Austria.

There are now clear bue skies across many parts of the Alps.

We will be getting a few more pictures later today, Wednesday, but in the meantime this is what it looks like across the roof tops of the Swiss city of Lausanne to the Alps in the distance.

WE SKI UNTIL LES RUINETTES  !!!The recent snowfalls, associated with the cold which allows the production of snow by our installation of mechanical snow coverage, allow to grow the offer of open tracks. From this weekend, opening of the ski slope of Attelas until Ruinettes !

A little more than 1 ' 500 persons took advantage of the ski slope the Lac des Vaux, where the conditions were excellent, the past weekend.
From the weekend of November 16th and 17th, the offer will extend significantly by the opening of the track between Attelas and Ruinettes and the following cable cars will be opened:

-

06.11.13
Gondola Le Châble - Verbier from 8:40 am till 16:45 pm (access to the domain)

For the following of November, the opening is planned all the ends of the week (on Saturday and Sunday). The daily opening is scheduled from the end of November.

The winter season 2013/2014 will be characterized by the construction of the new cable car Le Châble - Mayens-de-Bruson, as well as a new mechanical snow coverage in the domain of Bruson.

The full integration of the Bruson ski area with the rest of the 4 Valleys is about to become a reality.

14 months after the project began, a new gondola making the link between the slopes of Verbier and those of its neighbour Bruson much quicker and easier will be complete, the lift is due to open next month.

Previously you used to have to take a cable car down to Le Châble from Verbier and then a bus to Bruson but this only ran every 30 minutes, you'd then have to get a lift up at Bruson to get to the point where the new lift ends up. This would take a minimum of 45 minutes if you timed the bus connection right.  The new gondola runs from Le Châble to Les Mayens de Bruson. The Bruson ski area has always been popular with those looking to escape crowds and bad weather with 95% of the area being under the tree line making for some great skiing with 44km of piste accessible for all.

Golf
There is a marvellous and famous 18 Hole Golf Course in Verbier.

Skiing
Vichères, Liddes, Switzerland 30.4 km, 39 mins E27 (Amazing Off-Piste)

About the area
If you plan to drive then check the route first with Google Maps as there are new roads and the route it suggests IS the fastest and your GPS might not take you the right way.

If you fly then use Alpybus or Alpine Express to get you to Verbs. The normal drop-off is at Brunet Bus stop - 10 min walk to apartment. Train is very pretty esp if snow around and is about the same price.

Don't forget the bubble from Le Chable shuts early so make sure you don't miss it otherwise its a bus or taxi.
